Golden Beach Hotel Prachuap Khiri Khan Review

We’ve fallen head-over-heels in love with the incredible Thai city of Prachuap Khiri Khan, and the beautiful Golden Beach Hotel is just one of the many reasons why! We originally stayed here by chance after a terrible car crash, but have since come back over and over. Read on to learn about what we love about Golden Beach Hotel, and the minor things that could be improved!
Location: 10/10 (excellent)
We LOVE the location of Golden Beach Hotel! It’s directly across the street from the beautiful Gulf of Thailand, so it’s easy to just stroll from your room to the beach for a dip in the wonderfully warm water.

Golden Beach Hotel is within walking distance of the main downtown attractions of Prachuap Khiri Khan, but far enough away that you won’t be disturbed by the noise from the events held on the main street. If you want to be in the heart of the action, this may not be the place for you. But if you (like us) want a quiet, peaceful place to retreat to for a solid night of sleep, this is the perfect option.
Amenities & Room: 9/10 (very good)
The amenities are pretty standard and basic, with nothing seriously lacking but nothing to write home about either. You’ll find a minifridge stocked with beer and cold water for sale, a flat-screen TV, and an excellent air conditioning unit.
One thing we really love about Golden Beach Hotel is its beds. We’re slowly getting used to the hard beds in much of Asia, but being able to relax into the soft-yet-supportive mattresses here is blissful. The pillows are surprisingly nice, too! And there are night stands and power outlets on both sides of the bed (this should be standard, but you’d be surprised by how often it’s lacking in hotels and Airbnbs).
A minor issue with the rooms is that, while they’re fairly spacious, they don’t have enough space to conveniently store everything. There are only two small drawers for clothes, which might work for a weekend trip or for one person, but for the two of us it means that we can never fully unpack. A small dresser would be an amazing addition, and bring the score up to a 10!
Service: 11/10 (incredible!)
Everyone we’ve encountered here across our multiple stays has been so sweet and kind! From the owners to the maids to the night security guard, we have only the best things to say about everyone who works here.
On-site food (if any): 7/10 (above average)
The breakfast used to be a buffet, which would have scored an 8/10. Now it’s a set menu; you choose either a Western-style breakfast (eggs, mini hot dogs, ham), a Thai-style breakfast (pork and rice soup), or both. Of course, there’s also coffee, toast, jam, etc.

We recommend opting for the delicious Thai-style breakfast, as the Western breakfast is a bit of a letdown. (But honestly, you’re in Thailand… why eat Western food anyway?!)
Surrounding food options: 10/10 (excellent)
There are some incredible restaurants within easy walking distance of Golden Beach Hotel. In fact, our very favorite restaurant in Prachuap Khiri Khan is right next door! Just head straight out from the hotel, turn left, and walk about five steps to the very next building. (And say hi from us to the woman who runs it; she’s incredibly sweet and we adore her as much as her amazing food!)

For other food options nearby, turn right as you exit the hotel and start walking toward downtown Prachuap Khiri Khan. On the right (east) side of the street, you’ll see various casual-looking little restaurants, all of which have excellent food.
Final Score: 9.5/10 (excellent)
We absolutely love Golden Beach Hotel, and wholeheartedly recommend it for stays of up to a month. (Longer than that and we’d recommend looking for an apartment of your own, but that goes for anywhere.)
